The Audit Office is preparing to publish a report on air conditioners in schools in two weeks; the delay in publication is due to the Ministry of Education’s poor response.
Speaking on the Alpha Kalimera show, Audit Office spokesperson Giota Michael explained that the Office’s Technical Audit Department has already conducted an audit on the issue of air conditioners.
“Our audit has been completed. We would have been able to publish our report by now. The delay that has arisen is due to the poor response from the Ministry of Education. We expect to publish the relevant report in about two weeks.”
As he explained, the audit focused on the planning, coordination, and procurement procedures, as well as the progress of the air-conditioning project for the 2024–2026 period. This project involved the installation of air conditioning units in 209 of the 758 schools.
Ms. Michael noted that “we have quite a few findings.”
As she explained, a sample audit was conducted, and the progress of the project’s implementation was documented by comparing the Ministry’s plan with the actual results through July 2026.
