Oscar Thompson agreed to a five-year, $155 million contract extension with the Pistons.
The 23-year-old forward was selected to the All-Defensive First Team and finished third in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year last season.
He averaged 9.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 0.9 blocks during the 2025–26 season, while leading the NBA in steals per game (2.0). Overall, Thompson recorded the third-highest total of steals and blocks last season (215) and is one of only three players to have recorded at least 300 steals and 150 blocks since entering the league as the fifth overall pick in the 2023 draft.
The twin brothers, Oscar and Amen Thompson, are the first pair of brothers in NBA history to each sign contracts worth over 100 million dollars. Amen recently signed a five-year, $208 million contract extension with the Rockets, bringing the total value of both players’ contracts to $363 million for this period.
