Roma and Inter faced off at the “Olimpico” for Matchday 5 of Serie A, in a game that turned into a real thriller. The “Giallorossi” took a two-goal lead thanks to Koné, but Inter showed the spirit of a champion in the second half, and with two goals from Lautaro Martínez, they earned a point in a 2-2 draw!
Roma took control of the match early on against Inter, dominating for most of the first half. Gasperini’s team came out strong, pressing high up the field and managed to open the scoring in the 6th minute, when Manou Koné successfully finished off the “Giallorossi’s” well-organized attack.
Inter gradually tried to respond and had some key moments of their own, with Bisevac and Lautaro threatening Sviljar’s goal, while in the 33rd minute Bastoni hit the crossbar. Nevertheless, Roma maintained control and continued to disrupt the “Nerazzurri’s” build-up with their intense pressure.
In the 37th minute, Koné found the back of the net again, but the goal was initially disallowed for offside. After several minutes of review by VAR, the decision was overturned and the goal was awarded, with the French midfielder making it 2-0 and putting Roma in a commanding position before the end of the first half.
In the second half, Inter came out determined to get back into the game and managed to pull one back immediately. Lautaro Martínez was the star of the play, linking up superbly with Turam and, after receiving the ball back from his teammate, firing a left-footed shot into the far corner, sending the ball into the net. The finish wasn’t perfect, but it proved enough to beat Švilar and make it 2-1, reigniting the excitement of the match.
The game took on a frantic pace, with Roma coming close to a third goal in the 69th minute, when Malen made an impressive move inside the box and unleashed a thunderous shot, but Inter’s goalkeeper, Josep Martínez, prevented the goal by diving selflessly and blocking it… with his face! The visitors’ response was immediate, as in the 70th minute Diouf unleashed a dangerous shot from outside the box, forcing Svilar to dive into the corner and preserve his team’s lead.
In the 79th minute, Inter’s pressure culminated in an incredible sustained attack deep inside the home team’s box: First, Svilar made a spectacular save on a header by Biseć, then the ball struck the crossbar off a shot by Lautaro, and immediately afterward, Akangji tried to score. Finally, Martínez grabbed the “rebound,” cleverly controlled the ball with his knee, and fired a precise shot past Svilar, tying the score at 2-2 and silencing the “Olimpico.”
Nothing changed until the end, with Inter showing the spirit of a champion in the second half and leaving Rome with a point they deserved based on their response and intensity.
