Anorthosis just can’t seem to get back on its feet; the team heads into the break for international matches on the back of a loss, having suffered (September 19) they suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Nea Salamina in the fourth matchday of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.
Coming off a huge victory over APOEL (2-1), one would have expected “Kyriá” to capitalize on its momentum to build on its successes and turn things around. Instead, they displayed the same flaws and left “Ammohostos” empty-handed.

The Famagusta team had a very strong first half, applying pressure and creating chances—though, of course, failing to capitalize on them—while also being unlucky, as they even hit the crossbar. The “Red-and-Whites” opened the scoring against the run of play thanks to Poveda (44′).
El Maestro’s team never recovered after halftime, appearing lackluster in the second half and failing to mount a comeback at any point, as Loukas (64′) and Gransir (90+4′) seal the victory for the home team.
Just like last year, Anorthosis seems to be struggling to… secure those three points. Last season, they managed to do so only once, while this season they squandered their first opportunity. Another problem is their performance away from the “Antonis Papadopoulos” Stadium, where they’ve suffered three losses this season, conceding eight goals.
This latest setback is sounding the alarm in the “Lady,” which must use the three-week break to address its weaknesses and achieve consistency on the field.
