The report focused on the meeting between the two detained doctors at Korydallos Prison, as well as a new piece of evidence that emerged from the investigation into the cell phones of employees at the clinic where Giorgos Mazonakis was located before his death.
It is a message from a female employee to a relative or close acquaintance, in which she allegedly states that the doctor “got the singer drunk.”
According to what was reported on the show, this particular message was apparently deleted shortly afterward.
The meeting between the two doctors in Korydallos
As SKAI reporter Netti Filia reported from the prison, the request by the two accused doctors to meet was granted by the prosecutor overseeing the prison.
The 56-year-old doctor was transferred from the women’s prison to the men’s prison in Korydallos, escorted by the external guard.
The two detainees met for about 30 minutes in a special visiting area, without the partition glass between them. According to the report, during the meeting, their handcuffs were removed and the two doctors embraced.
The meeting took place in compliance with all required security measures.
Strict surveillance and reactions from inmates
At the same time, according to information reported on the program, security measures for the two defendants remain strict.
The 56-year-old woman is being held in a cell in the women’s wing, while the 58-year-old man is in a small cell in the men’s wing. The two are not allowed to mingle with other inmates, and their movements are subject to heightened surveillance.
According to the program’s report, there are shouts and boos directed at them, with authorities even fearing the possibility of a strong reaction from other inmates.
At the same time, a particularly telling image was captured by reporter Netti Filia from Korydallos: while she was waiting for the live broadcast, two cars drove by playing loud music, including songs by Giorgos Mazonakis.
The singer was particularly beloved by the inmates, as in 2023 he had visited the prison, given a concert, and, according to reports, had visited the areas where the inmates were held, eaten with them, and given them special gifts.
The message allegedly sent by a staff member
The latest development in the report was presented in the second part of the program “Report at 10.” As Mina Karamitrou reported, authorities are examining the cell phones of employees at the clinic on Karneadou Street, looking for communications that might shed light on what happened during those critical hours.
As part of this investigation, according to a SKAI report, a text message was discovered that was allegedly sent by one of the employees to a relative or other close acquaintance.
The message reportedly contained the phrase: “She got him drunk.”
The reference reportedly concerned the doctor and Giorgos Mazonakis, who was in the clinic at the time.
According to the report, it is particularly significant that the message was subsequently deleted.
The new question raised by the investigation
This piece of evidence is of particular interest because, in recent days, authorities have been examining the possibility that Giorgos Mazonakis was administered a substance prior to the procedure he underwent.
However, the employee’s message does not in and of itself constitute proof that he was, in fact, intoxicated. It is a finding from the digital investigation that the competent judicial authorities are now called upon to evaluate in conjunction with the rest of the evidence in the case.
The key question is whether the employee’s report corresponds to something she herself saw or observed inside the clinic and, above all, whether it can be corroborated by other evidence from the investigation.
At the same time, the investigation is examining the time the message was sent, exactly who it was sent to, why it was deleted, and whether there are other communications from the same employee that can clarify what was happening at that time.
The hypnotherapist before the investigator
The same report also mentioned the upcoming questioning of the hypnotherapist from Kifissia, who is expected to appear before the investigator.
The sleep therapist is linked to the investigation because of a photo that the 56-year-old doctor allegedly sent to his cell phone, while Giorgos Mazonakis was on the plasmapheresis machine.
One of the key questions being raised is exactly what his relationship with this particular doctor was, whether there was a professional collaboration between them, and why this specific photo was sent.
At the same time, as noted on “Report at 10,” the authorities are called upon to investigate whether there was any connection between the procedure taking place at the clinic on Karneadou Street and what was to follow at another clinic.
These questions, as well as the reference to “intoxication,” are now separate aspects of the ongoing investigation.
