The Famagusta District Court today sentenced a 41-year-old woman, after finding her guilty of causing death by reckless or dangerous conduct, failing to comply with a traffic signal, and driving a vehicle with a learner’s permit without being accompanied by a person holding a regular driver’s license for several years.
The 41-year-old was also assessed 8 penalty points and had her driver’s license suspended for three months, effective immediately upon her release from prison.
This was a fatal traffic collision that occurred on June 29, 2022, in Paralimni, resulting in the death of 35-year-old motorcyclist Giorgos Koronidis.
The unfortunate 35-year-old was seriously injured in the violent collision and succumbed to his injuries a few hours after the accident.
The accident occurred on the afternoon of June 29, 2022, when the vehicle driven by the woman on Korai Street in Paralimni collided with a motorcycle ridden by the unfortunate 35-year-old man.
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was thrown onto the pavement and seriously injured. It should be noted that he was wearing a protective helmet.
The injured man was transported by ambulance to the Famagusta General Hospital, where he was intubated, and was subsequently transferred to the Nicosia General Hospital, where, around 2 a.m. on June 30, 2022, he succumbed to his injuries.
