There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, ten individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, illegal possession of narcotics, and traffic offenses.
As part of these operations, 494 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 641 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 39 inspections were carried out at premises to combat illegal activities, resulting in one complaint.
During the traffic stops that were carried out, 330 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 31 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 106 were for speeding, and 18 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations. In addition, 157 alcohol tests were conducted, resulting in two reports, as well as two preliminary drug tests, one of which was positive.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
