Chris Triantafyllidis takes a jab at the decision not to call up Stavros Gabriel to the Men’s National Team.
In his post, he specifically states that he knows which… invisible hand is pulling the strings and will reveal the truth, as he put it, since this is not a matter of competitive criteria.
In fact, he said he contacted Haris Loizidis but never received a response from the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) president.
Here is what he wrote in detail: “A few days ago, I asked CFF President Haris Loizidis to ask the coach of the Cyprus national team why a player who plays for a team competing in the topPortuguese First Division is not included in the squad the coach selects for the Cyprus national team’s matches.
The player in question is STAVROS GAVRIEL. Instead, players who are substitutes on their teams competing in the Cypriot First Division are being called up. He told me he would look into it and get back to me. He never got back to me. He ignored me even though, among other things, I was his predecessor in the position he now holds. A little respect wouldn’t hurt.
Let me clarify: I know the real reason why Gabriel is scandalously not being called up. It has NOTHING to do with soccer, his soccer skills, or him personally. The reason involves other people.
However, this behavior is causing immense damage to a young man’s soccer career. It is unacceptable, and I will not let it stand. I’ll wait a few days for the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) to rectify the situation and for him to be called up by the national team coach or to come forward and explain himself. But I’ll say it again.
Don’t lie, gentlemen. I know the truth, and I know whose invisible hand is pulling the strings and orchestrating this unacceptable situation. I will make the truth public, naming names, and then it won’t be Stavros who’s looking for a place to hide.
I’m waiting. I won’t tolerate injustice, and this issue won’t be swept under the proverbial rug to be forgotten.”
A few days ago, I asked the President of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), Kon Haris Loizidis, to ask the coach of the Cyprus National Team why a player who plays for a team competing in theA Division in Portugal is not included in the coach’s roster…
