France held its first training session yesterday under its new national team coach, Zinedine Zidane. “Zizou” impressed everyone by joining in on part of the session and showing that skill never fades.
“We were all fans of his when we were young; it’s a pleasure for me. I’m very happy to be able to learn from him. At one point when we were playing with the ball, we realized he’s still got it. It will be difficult to replicate what Zidane is capable of doing technically,” Dayot Upamecano told the newspaper “L’Equipe.”
“We’re looking forward to seeing what comes next. I’m 27 years old; I still have a lot to learn. I’m a good listener, and we’re very happy to have him here. There was no anxiety at all, and we were all eager to get involved. His first talk was more of an exchange of ideas, an opportunity to get to know each other. “I’m very happy to have him as my coach; however, Didier Deschamps has helped me improve a lot in many areas,” he added.
