A total of 15 stab wounds, including seven to the back, were identified during the forensic examination of 25-year-old Penelope, who was murdered in Igoumenitsa.

The autopsy on the 25-year-old’s body was completed on Tuesday afternoon, and the findings reveal multiple injuries in various parts of her body.

The injuries documented by the forensic examination

According to the information that has come to light, the 25-year-old had two injuries in the neck area, while injuries were also found on her shin and right forearm.

In addition, a defensive wound was found on her left hand. According to the forensic assessment, this finding is associated with an attempt to defend herself against the attack.

Three of the wounds are classified as particularly deep. As the examination shows, in these cases the blade had penetrated nearly its entire length.

The weapon used was a folding knife with a handle, with a blade length of approximately 7.5 centimeters.

Crucial to determining the cause of death was the discovery of injuries in the neck area.

The autopsy revealed lacerations to major blood vessels in the neck, resulting in severe bleeding and the 25-year-old’s death within a short period of time.

Injuries were also documented in other vital organs, including the liver, the stomach, and the left lung.

The timeline of the murder in Igoumenitsa

The 25-year-old woman’s 27-year-old ex-boyfriend has confessed to stabbing her following a heated argument. The two had been in a relationship in the past but had broken up about a month before the crime.

The 27-year-old had traveled from Athens to Igoumenitsa, as he claimed, to discuss a financial dispute with his ex-girlfriend. Their meeting took place at a kiosk on the city’s bike path.

The initial account he gave to the authorities

Initially, he reportedly gave a different account to the authorities. At 9:44 p.m., he called the police and reported that two people had been attacked with a knife by four unknown assailants.

The call was made just five minutes after the Hellenic Police received its first report that a young woman had been found unconscious.

Shortly thereafter, police officers located the 27-year-old injured man. He had inflicted injuries on himself and was initially transported by an EKAB ambulance to the Igoumenitsa Emergency Department and then to the General Hospital of Filiates, where he is being treated and is out of danger.

According to reports, one of the wounds he inflicted on himself was deeper, and there have also been reports of an injury to his left lung.

The 25-year-old’s latest posts

The details emerging about the murder of 25-year-old Penelope in Igoumenitsa—with her ex-boyfriend named as the alleged perpetrator—are shocking.

Police are searching for clues that could shed light on the case, examining, among other things, the 25-year-old’s latest social media posts.

The goal is to gather information that may provide answers about the events leading up to the murder.

The victim and the suspect had broken up about a month before the murder, and the 27-year-old man allegedly threatened her. According to the 25-year-old’s colleagues, Penelope was particularly distraught after their breakup.

She had also expressed her sadness in her social media posts. On August 21, she wrote: “The same person who charmed me is the same person who let me down,” while on August 25 she wrote: “You can’t even trust yourself.”

Six days before her murder, the unfortunate Penelope had made yet another post on her profile, writing: “The decision you didn’t make is the one that never changes.”

The post she made on the day of her murder is also striking. “If you ignore a problem, it doesn’t stop existing. Right?” Penelope wrote just a few hours before she was fatally stabbed by her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend.

“We heard shouting and commotion”

A neighbor of the couple described, according to the “Live News” program, that voices and arguments could be heard coming from the house at intervals.

“He was the one causing the commotion. We heard shouting. Shouting, commotion—that sort of thing. He was getting worked up, but we couldn’t see what was going on inside. He was yelling. At times he was yelling, but I don’t know who he was arguing with,” she said.

The 25-year-old’s uncle categorically denied reports suggesting financial disputes between the young woman and her ex-partner.

“These are terrible things. This has to stop, but unfortunately… They didn’t have any financial issues, and there’s no such thing. It’s all lies,” he said.

“She was such a good girl”

A colleague of the 25-year-old, who was deeply shaken by her loss, spoke of an educated young woman who had studied biology and was working in her chosen field.

“She had a degree; she was a biologist and had come to work in her field. She was a very good girl. A good girl, educated, working in her field—she had her opportunities, and we’re trying right now to come to terms with that,” he noted.

The 27-year-old to appear before the investigating judge on Thursday

The 27-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder, illegal possession and use of a firearm, as well as drug possession, as he allegedly had narcotic tablets in his possession.

The prosecutor went to the General Hospital of Filiates, where the defendant remains hospitalized, and filed the criminal charges against him.

The 27-year-old was given a deadline and is expected to appear before the investigating judge on the morning of Thursday, September 24. At the same time, he requested the appointment of a public defender, citing financial hardship.
