Marko Nikolić expressed his satisfaction with Meyer’s presence at AEK on the Croatian website SportKlub. The AEK coach noted that Meyer hasn’t yet reached his full potential but that this will happen in the future, and he expressed confidence that Meyer will become even more beloved by AEK fans.
“I’m very happy to have him on my team. I think that answers all possible questions. It’s a rare case. The process of his transfer went so smoothly, so quickly, and with such clear understanding from all sides that it was truly impressive,” he said, and continued speaking about Meyer:
“He’s a great kid and a great player. I don’t think he’s reached his peak yet, even though he’s already outstanding. The fans have welcomed him very warmly and have fallen in love with him… They love players like that. I think that over time he’ll show even more than he has so far. He plays in an environment where the coach trusts him, the fans love him, and he has great teammates. He has leadership skills and is the player who runs the most in every practice and every game,” he noted, adding his thoughts on Meyer’s performance so far in the team’s games and what aspect he needs to work on most:
“We’ll try to teach him to fight a little more sometimes during the game—in a good way. He already has it in him; we just need to bring it out. I think we can expect some very good performances from him.”
Finally, he expressed his delight that Meyer has once again been called up to the Croatian national team.
