The relevant departments of the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia are on high alert following the detection of cases of the West Nile virus at a horse farm, where a total of five cases were diagnosed.
Paralimni Deputy Mayor Kleanthis Koutsoftas stated that the issue will be brought up as an urgent item at a scheduled plenary session of the Municipal Council this afternoon, in order to highlight the need for further measures to protect citizens.

Mr. Koutsoftas explained that the first case was detected 10 to 14 days ago, and the Veterinary Services were immediately notified; they conducted the necessarynecessary inspections, and as it turned out, there is no cause for concern, nor is there any risk whatsoever.
The Deputy Mayor of Paralimni noted that local government authorities are strictly following the Health Services’ protocol regarding mosquito control spraying.
