The Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus is launching a program of organized visits and guided tours for citizens interested in viewing the unique collection of works of art and antiquities, “Cyprus: The World, the Place, the Word, Matter,” which is on display at the Presidential Palace. The “Presidential Palace Open to the Public” program is an initiative of First Lady Filippa Karsera Christodoulidou, launching on a pilot basis on Saturday, October 3, 2026, on the occasion of Independence Day. The rationale is part of a broader philosophy: To provide citizens with access to highly symbolic sites so they can become familiar with them and feel proud of our country’s history and cultural heritage.
The exhibition, titled “Cyprus: The World, the Place, the Word, the Matter,” consists of works by important first-generation Cypriot artists, such as Adamantios Diamantis, Paul Georgiou, Telemachus Kanthos, and Michael Kassialos, as well as other distinguished contemporary Cypriot artists. The works come from the Presidential Palace Collection, the State Collection, the Leventis Art Gallery, and the artists’ family collections. The exhibition also includes rare ancient artifacts from the Department of Antiquities, such as Cypriot figurines and sculptures dating from the 4th millennium B.C. up to the 1st century B.C., which reflect the island’s long and multifaceted archaeological heritage. The tour also includes the interactive digital application “Time Machine,” created by the Virtual Environments Laboratory of the Cyprus Institute, using archival material from the Press and Information Office.
Those interested in participating in the first organized tour on Saturday, October 3, 2026, are invited to register by entering their full name and ID number on the platform located on the website of the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
The first 150 visitors, who must be 18 years of age or older, will be selected strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. A second guided tour will follow in May 2027, on the occasion of International Museum Day. The tour, which will last approximately one hour, will be led by the exhibition curators, Kostas Mantzalos and Konstantinos Kounnis.
The tours on October 3, 2026, will be conducted in Greek, in three groups of 50 people as follows: 1) 9:00–10:00 a.m., 2) 10:30–11:30 a.m., and 3) 12:00–1:00 p.m. Selected citizens should be at the English School parking lot half an hour beforehand to be transported by minibuses to the Presidential Palace.
