A 54-year-old man was arrested yesterday by police officers, pursuant to a court warrant, as part of an investigation into a case of conspiracy to commit a felony, a building break-in, theft, and malicious damage, which took place in the Paphos district.
According to the evidence under investigation, yesterday around 5:00 p.m., a 44-year-old man went to an unoccupied apartment building to do some work and discovered that there were two people inside who were carrying a water heater. When the suspects noticed the 44-year-old, they dropped the water heater and fled; however, the 44-year-old managed to apprehend one of the two suspects.
Members of the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department arrived at the scene and, after conducting an investigation, determined that the suspect was a 54-year-old resident of Paphos. The second individual has not been located and is currently being sought.
The value of the stolen property totals 6,000 euros, while the damage caused to the plumbing system is also estimated at 6,000 euros.
The 54-year-old is expected to appear today before the Paphos District Court for the issuance of a detention order.
