The AEK soccer players returned to training today (September 24) after the time off they had been granted by Rubén Sayés, following their victory over Omonia 29M, which marked the start of the break in the Cyprus League by Stoiximan due to national team commitments.
The Larnaca team got some much-needed rest after playing four matches in a “marathon,” two of which were derbies, and is back to work with the goal of staying sharp, while also correcting the shortcomings that surfaced in the early rounds. The international players—Paraskevas, Hambos, Pileas, and Trika—are absent.
The Spanish coach is pleased to welcome back Enrique Saborit, who participated in the regular training program and is expected to be ready for the league’s resumption. In contrast, Youssef Amin trained on his own and it appears he will need more time before he is available again.
After a three-week break, AEK will return to action against Omonia Aradippou (Oct. 12, 7:00 p.m.) at the “Arena” for Matchday 5, looking to build on their recent successes while remaining at the top of the table, a position they share with AEL.
