On September 8, 2026, the Nicosia District Court issued an order barring a 25-year-old man from sports facilities, upon the filing before the Court, for immediate trial, of a case involving the offenses of assault and causing actual bodily harm, assaulting a law enforcement officer in the regular performance of duty, throwing dangerous objects during a sporting event, and assault during a sporting event, on the playing field of the G.S.P. Stadium, during the soccer match between the APOEL and AEL teams on September 6, 2026.
Upon the case being scheduled for trial under the Law on the Prevention and Suppression of Violence in Sports Venues, the District Court ordered that the 25-year-old defendant be released on conditions ensuring his presence at the next hearing. At the same time, following a request from the police, the Court issued an order barring the 25-year-old from sports venues until the conclusion of the trial.
