- Assignment in Montenegro: Giorgos Kyzas
Our national team is heading into the fray!
At 9:45 p.m., our national team faces Montenegro in Podgorica in the opening match for both teams in Group 2 of the Nations League’s third tier.
Our national team players and Akis Mantzios are fully prepared for the match, with a very positive atmosphere within the team, while there is also determination and confidence that if the game plan is followed, the desired result can be achieved.
On the field, the Greek coach will not be able to count on Konstantinos Laifis, who followed an individual training program during the last practice and has been definitively ruled out of the squad. Sielis is also out, having remained in Cyprus.
As for the likely starting lineup, most positions seem… locked in, though Panagiotou’s defensive partner remains a question mark, with Konomis appearing to be the favorite to start.
Beyond that, Siikkis appears to be the frontrunner to start at right back, while Loizou and Edwards are “battling it out” for a spot on the right wing.
It should be noted that Edwards made an excellent impression in his first training sessions, and there is cautious optimism that he will be a key player for our team moving forward.
Our national team’s probable starting lineup: Fabiano, Malekkides, Panagiotou, Konomis, Siikkis, Kyprianou, Andreou, Kastanos, Tzionis, Edwards (Loizou), Pittas
