There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive policing operations, eleven individuals were arrested for various offenses, including burglary, unlawful possession of property, assault, illegal stay in the Republic, as well as traffic violations.
As part of these operations, 504 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 641 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 37 property inspections were carried out to address illegal activities, resulting in one complaint.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 337 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and three cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation. As part of the police investigations, two vehicles were impounded.
Of the reports filed for traffic violations, 120 involved speeding. Four reports were filed for driving under the influence of alcohol, while two cases of driving under the influence of drugs were identified. A total of 124 drivers were tested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while four drivers were tested for driving under the influence of drugs.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at crime prevention and suppression, continue daily, with an increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
