Sir Stelios Hatzioannou, founder and owner of the easy family of Brands, categorically denies today’s reports suggesting that he is in talks with AKEL regarding a possible candidacy in the 2028 presidential election and makes it clear that he has no interestin entering politics.
In a statement, he said:

“In response to reports referring to my possible candidacy in the 2028 presidential election, I wish to clarify that the information in question does not correspond to reality.
I am not engaged in any discussions or contacts with AKEL or any other political party regarding this matter, and I have no interest in entering politics or seeking any political office.
My activities in Cyprus, through the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, remain firmly focused on philanthropic and social work. Among other things, the focus is on initiatives to support youth entrepreneurship, strengthen cooperation between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots through bicommunal entrepreneurship, and the “Food from the Heart,” through which practical support is offered to our fellow citizens in need, as well as financial assistance to nonprofit organizations and associations.”
