A female tourist’s bag was found shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday amid the rubble of the building in Plaka.
Search efforts are continuing at the building on Lysikratous Street following the powerful explosion that occurred Friday morning and caused a three-story building to collapse.

Large numbers of firefighters are on the scene, while specially trained dogs are searching through the rubble. According to reports, an elderly couple believed to have been living on the second floor of the building has not yet been located.
Authorities are trying to determine whether the two people were in the building at the time of the explosion or if they had left earlier. At the same time, authorities are investigating reports that three tourists were also in the building; they are said to have rented an apartment through a short-term rental platform.
