Shortly before 11:30 p.m., an alarm went off in Limassol.
Members of the Police arrived at the jewelry store after receiving a report that a burglar was inside the premises.
The owner also arrived at the scene and pointed out to the police the door leading to the elevator machine room.
There, during the search, they found the 40-year-old man hiding.

A battery grinder, cutting discs, batteries, metal-cutting shears, a file, and a utility knife were found in the bag.
Gold and silver items were also found, including gold shavings, as well as two 14- and 18-karat gold authenticity test kits.
“Upon inspecting the items, the complainant saw and identified some of the property stolen in the previous burglary.”

Footage from the closed-circuit surveillance system appears to have recorded the suspect’s movements during the first burglary as well.
According to the investigation, he had forced open the protective metal roller shutter and broken the glass in the door.
The property has been closed for about six years.
The 40-year-old, who is known to the authorities, was brought before the Limassol District Court today, which ordered his detention for seven days.
During his preliminary hearing, he denied any wrongdoing.
