AEK is resuming training today, with the players who are not on international duty returning to Spata after the five-day break granted to them by Marko Nikolić. AEK’s next official match is scheduled for October 10 against OFI in Nea Filadelfia.
The Serbian coach, however, will have to work with several players absent during this period. A total of 13 players are with their national teams, while Thomas Strakosa, Lazaros Rota, and Barnabas Varga remain sidelined due to injuries. There is particular interest in the progress of Lazaros Rota’s recovery, with the Greek fullback expected to return to normal training relatively soon.

At the same time, the break provides an opportunity for Babis Lykoiannis and João Mário to catch up on their fitness, as they were signed later and did not complete a full summer training camp with the team. AEK has also scheduled two friendly matches, on September 29 against Kallithea and on October 4 against Panetolikos, with the second game taking place at the Elliniko Stadium at 11:00 a.m.
Efforts in London to secure additional tickets for the match against Shakhtar
AEK continues its efforts to secure even more tickets for the match against Shakhtar Donetsk. AEK representatives are in London and are in talks with Chelsea officials, seeking to secure additional seats for “yellow-and-black” fans for the October 14 game at Stamford Bridge.
AEK already had 6,000 tickets available, priced at 50 euros, which sold out in about eight hours, demonstrating the high demand for this particular match. The match is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. UK time and 10:00 p.m. Greek time, with Shakhtar using Chelsea’s stadium as its home ground for its European matches.
