Early Saturday afternoon, September 26, two more bodies were found in the building that collapsed yesterday morning in Plaka following an explosion that was likely caused by natural gas.
A short while earlier, the body of a man had been recovered, and shortly after 2:00 a.m., rescue crews from EMAK had pulled the lifeless body of a woman from the rubble.
Two people are still missing
Rescue teams are now continuing their search to locate the two people who remain missing, while authorities are investigating the causes of the tragedy, which, according to initial findings, were due to a natural gas leak.
Early this morning, a woman was recovered dead; who had been living with her partner and another couple in a short-term rental apartment on the first floor of the building that collapsed, while on Saturday morning, the body of a 77-year-old British man was found.
According to reports, the missing individuals are of Albanian descent and hold U.S. citizenship.
Reports indicate that the elderly couple lived on the second floor of the building.
