After an incredible game in Peristeri, Olympiacos defeated PAOK 101-96 and claimed its first title of the season, lifting the Stoiximan Super Cup trophy!
The “Red-and-Whites” took control of the game early on, building a lead as large as +21 before halftime (50-29) and appeared early on to be laying a very solid foundation for the win.
Nevertheless, the “Double-Headed Eagle of the North” fought back in the second half with a “barrage” of three-pointers, getting back into the game and closing the gap to just one point (94-93). At that point, however, Evan Fournier’s experience and Jean Montero’s composure made the difference, securing the victory for the Piraeus team.
Sasha Vezenkov was the game’s leading scorer with 25 points, while Fournier scored 19. Montero was outstanding with 20 points, a crucial basket, and composure at the free-throw line.
Thus, Olympiacos brought PAOK back down to earth after their big victory over Panathinaikos and won the Super Cup for the fifth consecutive time (and overall), reaffirming its dominance in the competition.
