With a special blessing and the highest honor, the Holy Church of St. Andrew in Platy, Aglantzia, welcomes today, Monday, the Holy Hand of St. Mary Magdalene, which will remain in the church for veneration until October 4, 2026.
The official reception will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Kyrenia Avenue. The Holy Hand will be brought by Hieromonk Father Gervasios, accompanied by priests from the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra on Mount Athos, and will be received by His Eminence Metropolitan of Paphos, Mr. Gregory.
A litany procession will follow to the Holy Church of St. Andrew the Apostle, where the Holy Hand will remain for veneration until Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
The arrival of the Holy Hand of Saint Mary Magdalene is a significant event of spiritual strength for all of Cyprus, as it is being brought to our island for the first time from the Holy Monastery of Simon Petra, where it is kept.
The glorious and all-praised Saint Mary Magdalene was a faithful and devoted disciple of Christ, a follower of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Myrrh-Bearer and the Herald of the Resurrection. She was privileged to be the first, along with the Most Holy Theotokos, to see the Risen Lord and to announce the joyful news of the Resurrection to the Apostles. She is honored as an equal to the Apostles and a herald of the faith.
Throughout the Holy Hand’s stay at the Holy Temple, the faithful will be able to come to venerate it and receive the Saint’s blessing, daily between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
