- Assignment in Latvia: Giorgos Kyzas
Our national team boards the plane to Larnaca this afternoon. Our national squad didn’t get the result it deserved against Latvia, as the match in Riga ended in a 0-0 draw.
Akis Mantziou’s team dominated for almost the entire match, controlled the game, and faced virtually no threat from the Latvians.
The problem arose in the final third of the field, with the final pass. There, the team lacked a clear head and… luck, as we hit the woodwork twice.
Now, with just one point from two matches, it goes without saying that neither the players nor the coaching staff can be satisfied. This was something the Greek coach also acknowledged in his post-match comments.
Nevertheless, the fight isn’t over. Two more matches against Armenia (Oct. 2) and Latvia (Oct. 5) at the GSP Stadium are coming up, which will largely determine our fate in the tournament.
