The trial of the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Faidon Faidon, continues today before the Paphos Permanent Criminal Court. According to reports, the prosecution is expected to continue calling witnesses today, who will then be cross-examined by the defense attorneys for the suspended mayor of Paphos.
So far, the complainant has not testified; she is reportedly scheduled to testify via videoconference.
The suspended mayor of Paphos faces a total of five charges, which include rape, indecent assault against a woman, indecent assault against a woman involving another act, assault resulting in actual bodily harm, as well as administering a drug or other substance capable of sedating or incapacitating a person.
The defendant has pleaded not guilty to all five charges.
Once the prosecution witnesses have finished testifying, the Criminal Court is expected to rule on whether there is a prima facie case.
It should be noted that the proceedings are continuing behind closed doors following a request by the prosecution, which was granted by the Criminal Court sitting in Paphos.
