The Ecologists’ Movement proposes the adoption of horizontal voting and the reinstatement of “simple proportional representation” in the second and third rounds of distribution – Citizens’ Cooperation, which is launching a cross-party initiative with a meeting between its delegation and ALMA at the House of Representatives.
A statement from the Movement notes that the initiative began with a letter from the Movement’s former President, Stavros Papadouris, dated August 6, with the aim of discussing the shortcomings and inequalities arising from the current election law, as amended in 2015.
“The core focus of the initiative is the adoption of horizontal voting and the restoration of ‘simple proportional representation’ in the second and third allocation rounds,” it is noted, adding that ALMA, Direct Democracy, EDEK, and DIPA have already responded positively to the initiative.
