AEL is one of the pleasant surprises of this year’s league, as after four matchdays it sits in second place in the standings, having earned nine points with three wins and one loss. The “Lions” are tied with AEK, having gotten off to a particularly strong start.
Despite the fact that Hugo Martins’ team has had to deal with significant absences, it has shown character so far and managed to rise to the challenge.

The Portuguese coach will be without Hamza Čataković and Yannick Gomis. Both players sustained serious injuries in the opening match of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan against Anorthosis. Čataković suffered a torn cruciate ligament, while Gomis suffered a fibula fracture and an ankle dislocation.
With the resumption of the league, AEL will have the opportunity to build on its positive results. On October 11, they will host Omonia 29 May at the “Alphamega Stadium,” and a week later, they will play away at the “AEK Arena” against Omonia Aradippou.
