Hugo Martins has completed one year as head coach of AEL, and the Portuguese coach reflected on his time with the club in a social media post.
The coach of the “Lions” reflected on his journey with the club, the difficult moments he had to face, and the support he received from the players, the management, and, above all, the team’s fans.
At the same time, he shared his own message about the future, emphasizing that his story with AEL is just beginning and that he remains determined to continue working and giving his all for the club.
Here is what he wrote in detail
“Today, I’m not just celebrating one year since the day I joined this club. I’m celebrating a year full of stories, emotions, challenges, and, above all, people who made this journey so special.
There were difficult days; there were moments when we had to believe more than ever, but we remained united. We’ve shared so many moments, shed a few tears, smiled many times, and created memories that will stay with us forever.
To our fans, I want to say something that may never be enough: thank you for being with us.
Thank you for every voice in the stands, for every round of applause, for every chant, for every message of support, and even for those moments when you suffered alongside us. You are part of this team. When we step onto the field, we know we’re not alone.
A club thrives on its players, but it also—and very much so—thrives on those who feel the club is a part of themselves. And this year has shown me exactly that.
A year has passed…
Today, I look back with gratitude and look to the future with the same determination I’ve had from day one. To work, to fight, and to give my all for this emblem we wear on our chests.
Our story is just beginning.
To the players: keep believing.
To the fans: keep singing.
To the club: we’ll keep honoring these colors.
Thank you for this first year. Thank you for making me feel like part of this family.
May there be many more chapters, many more battles, and many more moments for us to celebrate together.
A year later, I still feel the same pride: to be the coach of this club.
Together we are stronger.
Together we are AEL.”
