An alert was issued to the authorities in the early morning hours following a chase of a motorcyclist suspected of planting a bomb.
According to reports, around 2:30 a.m., an unidentified individual riding a high-powered motorcycle was seen fleeing from an area near a building housing a telecommunications company, in Mesa Geitonia in the Limassol District.

A pursuit ensued immediately, but efforts to apprehend him were unsuccessful.
Investigations revealed that an explosive device was found at the spot where he was seen fleeing; for reasons unknown at this time, it did not detonate.
The scene has been cordoned off for on-site examinations by police officers and a bomb disposal expert.
