There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, three individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, obtaining goods under false pretenses, and others.
As part of these operations, 483 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 655 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 35 inspections were conducted at premises to address violations, resulting in two complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 300 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and nine cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 115 were for speeding, and seven vehicles were impounded as part of the police investigations. Alcohol tests were also conducted, resulting in five citations, as well as two preliminary drug tests, one of which was positive.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
