Joan Laporta revealed to the Italian press exactly what happened this summer regarding the rumors of Barcelona’s intense interest in Lautaro Martínez.
Ideally, Inter never wants to discuss its Argentine star with anyone; he remains completely… in love with Milan, so Barcelona’s efforts would come to nothing.
However, it’s not even considered a full-fledged effort. Joan Laporta spoke to the Corriere della Sera and said:
“I called Marotta, and the two of us spoke. Not through representatives, nor through intermediaries. Nothing. I told him that I’d really like to see Lautaro on my team and that I admire him greatly. But he didn’t even let me finish what I wanted to say.
He made it clear to me that Lautaro is not for sale, and out of respect for Marotta—with whom we share a very strong relationship—as well as out of respect for Inter, I didn’t pursue the matter further.”
