Cristiano Ronaldo is in the spotlight on the Portuguese national team following Jorge Jesus’ decision to keep CR7 on the bench for the entire match against Norway.
According to *Marca*, as well as reports from *A Bola*, the Portuguese superstar met with the national team coach on Tuesday evening at the hotel where the squad is staying in Malmö, Sweden. The president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença, also participated in the discussion, as the situation has created tension within the team.
Jesus addressed everything that had happened during the press conference, emphasizing that the Portuguese media had pressured him to get in touch with them, even though there wasn’t actually a problem.
“The Portuguese media essentially pressured me to talk to Cristiano about a situation where, in reality, there was no issue at all. I told him, ‘Chris, there’s so much being said about this in Portugal that I don’t understand exactly what’s going on.’ But there was nothing to discuss.
Cristiano told me, “I’m here for you to decide. If you want me to play, I’ll play. If you don’t want me to play, I won’t play. If you want me to be on the bench, I’ll go to the bench.” We had already cleared everything up after dinner. The problem wasn’t even a problem,” Jesus noted.
