The investigator, who is examining every aspect of the case surrounding the death of Giorgos Mazonakis, also summoned as a witness the anesthesiologist whom one of the nurses contacted by phone at the critical moment when the singer was undergoing plasmapheresis.
This testimony is considered significant because, on the one hand, the doctor, who is currently in custody, reportedly denies that she administered a sedative to Giorgos Mazonakis, while on the other hand, one of the nurses is reported to have testified that she contacted the anesthesiologist seeking the antidote. The anesthesiologist, who testified before the investigating judge a few days ago, confirmed that she received a phone call from the nurse.
The anesthesiologist, she says, did not speak with the doctor at that critical moment. However, she testified that the nurse called her and asked what the antidote for propofol was, to which she replied that there was none.
And while the investigations continue in every direction with the aim of answering all the questions, yet another nurse has brought back into the scope of the judicial investigation the recommendation that all employees at the clinic a unified position during the preliminary investigation and before criminal proceedings are initiated and charges of manslaughter with possible intent are brought against the two doctors. “The doctor told us that we are all jointly responsible and that we should present a united front,” the witness reportedly testified.
And while the legal proceedings continue, attorney Nikos Alexandris, who had taken on the doctor’s defense a few days ago, has also resigned from representing her.
“After consulting with my client, the doctor, it was decided to terminate our collaboration, as the current circumstances of the case make it impossible for our law firm to represent her,” the lawyer’s official statement reads.
