Russian airstrikes once again targeted the South Bridge in Kyiv, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, announced today via Telegram, with city authorities reporting one death and two injuries in another strike on a residential building.
Yesterday, Thursday, Russian drones struck a school in Kyiv and the South Bridge over the Dnieper River, causing fires in the city, as Moscow continues its nearly daily, sustained strikes against Ukraine.
Traffic on this bridge, as well as on the Patton Bridge, has been suspended in both directions, Kyiv authorities announced.
Furthermore, according to Klitschko, a fire has broken out on the upper floors of a residential building, and damage has been reported in another area of Kyiv. The strike on the building left one person dead and two injured, authorities in the Ukrainian capital reported.
Russia, for its part, confirmed that overnight it launched drone strikes against military targets and infrastructure, including a road and a railway bridge over the Dnieper River in Kyiv, a power substation in the vicinity of the Ukrainian capital, and an industrial complex at the port of Izmail in the Odessa region.
The Russian Ministry of Defense clarified that the bridge was being used to transport troops and military cargo to Ukrainian forces in the Donbas region, while the port of Izmail was being used to transport military cargo and fuel supplies for the Ukrainian army.
In addition, a dry cargo ship carrying military equipment and dual-use goods to the port of Odessa was struck in the Black Sea, according to the Russian Ministry.
