The singer's mother is present during the investigation

A search is currently underway at the home of Giorgos Mazonakis, following an order issued by the investigating judge handling the singer’s death case.

The singer’s mother is present during the search inside the home, while his sisters are at the office of their attorney, Charalambos Lykoudis.

Earlier this week, the Athens Misdemeanor Court issued a ruling granting the “green light” to lift telephone privacy restrictions. The investigating judge handling the case had submitted the relevant request to the Council, and the prosecutor had also recommended that the confidentiality be lifted.

The investigating judge has requested the lifting of confidentiality for six mobile phones, one hard drive, and one USB drive. According to reports, these are digital devices that were seized during the police search of the medical office on Karneadou Street, where the singer suffered a cardiac arrest on September 9.

The cell phones that were seized belong to Giorgos Mazonakis, the two accused doctors, two secretaries, and a nurse who work at the clinic.

The investigating judge handling the case even requested that the seizure be extended for the maximum period allowed by law, namely from July 11, 2026, through the day following the singer’s death, that is, September 10.

The testimonies

It should be noted that yesterday (October 1) the anesthesiologist—with whom one of the nurses had spoken by phone at the critical moment when Giorgos Mazonakis was undergoing plasmapheresis—gave her testimony to the investigating judge.

This testimony is considered significant because, on the one hand, the doctor, who is currently in custody, reportedly denies that she administered a sedative to Giorgos Mazonakis, while on the other hand, one of the nurses is reported to have testified that she contacted the anesthesiologist seeking the antidote. The anesthesiologist, who testified before the investigating judge a few days ago, confirmed that she received a phone call from the nurse.

The anesthesiologist, she says, did not speak with the doctor at that critical moment. However, she testified that the nurse called her and asked what the antidote for propofol was, to which she replied that there is none.

And while investigations continue in every direction to answer all the questions, another nurse has brought back into the scope of the judicial inquiry the recommendation that all employees at the clinic a unified position during the preliminary investigation and before criminal proceedings are initiated and charges of manslaughter with possible intent are brought against the two doctors. “The doctor told us that we are all jointly responsible and that we should present a unified front,” the witness testified.
