The Political Bureau of the Democratic Rally unanimously adopted decisions regarding the candidate selection process for the presidential election, according to a statement issued by DISY.
“The Political Bureau of the Democratic Rally met today to discuss the procedures for selecting the party’s candidate for the 2028 Presidential Election, following a relevant recommendation from the Executive Bureau. During the meeting, all proposals were heard, and an extensive and substantive exchange of views took place, with the aim of ensuring a process characterized by transparency and respect for the Party Charter and the Members of the Democratic Alarm,” Pindarou states in the announcement.

She adds that the Political Bureau unanimously adopted a consensual solution regarding the rescheduling of the candidate selection process. Specifically, the deadline for submitting candidacies has been moved to October 26, and the pan-Cypriot electoral assembly to November 28.
“The Democratic Alarm is embarking on a process unprecedented in Cypriot history, opening up the selection of the candidate for the Presidency of the Republic to its tens of thousands of members. The Political Bureau has unanimously decided to call on all party officials to contribute to ensuring that this internal, democratic process is conducted in a manner that will strengthen the party.”
At the same time, the Political Bureau “also unanimously called on all potential candidates for the Party’s nomination to participate in the internal party procedures and to publicly declare their intention to fully respect the verdict of themembers.”
The Political Bureau calls on all party members to participate en masse in this great democratic process, of which we are all proud, the statement concludes.
