Omonia suffered a friendly loss to Olympiacos in a match held at the “Ilias Poulous” Stadium on Friday afternoon (October 2).
After the match, Henning Berg spoke to the team’s official channel, highlighting the positives from the friendly.
He focused primarily on the opportunity some young players had to see action, as well as the rhythm his team needed to maintain given the league hiatus.
Here are his comments in detail:
“It was a very good practice for those who haven’t played much. And it was the best practice we could have had today. And when you have such a long break, you have to make sure you have some competitive friendly matches as part of your preparation, and this was a competitive friendly match, so it was good. And also, for those who play a lot, it’s good to maintain their rhythm and be ready for next week. So I’m satisfied that we played the game, and it was very good—and it was excellent match preparation for many, many of our players. It was an opportunity to see some of the young players in action again. Okay, that was more of a bonus for them to get a little taste of the level of play and some motivation for the future, and to see where they stand and what their level is. So, it was nice for them to play, and of course they did well. They had a good attitude. They showed—how should I put it?—a positive mindset and willingness to push forward, score, and get into good positions. So the young players did well.”
