Spectators at the GSP Stadium experienced a particularly moving moment during the Cyprus – Armenia match, when the deaf students Gabriella Timotheou and Ariana Floureskou performed our national anthem in Cypriot Sign Language.
Through sign language, the two girls sent a beautiful and powerful message of inclusion, equality, and respect, lending a special symbolism to the moment.
This wonderful initiative was organized by the Cyprus Football Federation in collaboration with the “Georgios Markou” School for the Deaf.
And their presence continues! The two girls will also be at the stadium on Monday, along with Cypriot Sign Language interpreter Thekla Eleftheriou, who was responsible for their preparation and participation.
A moment that reminds us that inclusion isn’t just a word. It’s an action. It’s participation.
