Nations League: Action in three divisions, with Croatia vs. England taking center stage

The Day's Schedule
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The action in the Nations League continues on Saturday (October 3), with matches in three of its four divisions.

In Group 3 of the top division, the match between Croatia and England will kick off at 7:00 p.m., with the two teams facing off just a short time after their clash at this year’s World Cup. Three and a half months ago, England secured a 4-2 victory, and now they’ll be looking for their second straight win, following their 2-0 victory in the Czech Republic. On the other hand, the Croatians are coming off a heavy 4-1 defeat on the road against world champions Spain, though in their opener for this year’s Nations League, they managed to defeat the Czechs 2-1. The match will take place in Rijeka, and only children under the age of 14 will be allowed in the stands due to a penalty imposed on Croatia. At 9:45 p.m., the match in Oviedo will kick off between Spain—currently in first place with a 2-0 record—and the group’s last-place team, the Czech Republic, which is still searching for its first point.

In League B, Group 1, Switzerland—the leader with a perfect record from the first two matchdays—will host Slovenia in Lucerne, which is riding high after its 2-0 victory over North Macedonia and will be looking for the three points needed to climb to the top of the table. On the other hand, Scotland—which has been disappointing so far, having earned just one point from its first two games—will face a tough test in Skopje.

Finally, there’s action tonight in the third tier of the Nations League as well! In the first match of the day, Finland will host Albania in the top-of-the-table clash of Group 1, where Belarus and San Marino will also face off. In Group 4, where everything is still up for grabs, Estonia will host Luxembourg, and Iceland will face Bulgaria in Reykjavik.

Today’s schedule for the Nations League:
