The ejection of 37-year-old goalkeeper Etrit Berisha in the 22nd minute led to Finland’s comeback and a 2-1 victory over Albania in Helsinki, as part of Matchday 3 of Group 1 in League C of the Nations League.
Albania, which suffered its first loss since the start of the tournament, took the lead through Manaj in the 4th minute, but the red card Berisha received shortly afterward allowed the Finns to turn the game around with two goals by 23-year-old midfielder Leo Valta.
Now, after earning the “three points,” Finland stands alone at the top of the group with 7 points, compared to the Albanians’ 6.
