Shortly before the start of the friendly match against Apollon, Kyriakos Dimitriou spoke to Cytavision and discussed AEK’s current situation on the field and the latest updates regarding injured players.
In fact, an unexpected problem arose with Tsakon, since after undergoing tests, an issue was identified with a screw that had been inserted into his leg following his surgery, which caused fluid buildup; as a result, he will miss the match against Omonia Aradippou.
He also commented on the status of Cabrera and Amin.
Here are his remarks in detail:
“We managed our time differently. First, we gave the players time off, and then we played a friendly against Nea Salamina. It was a crucial test to see where we stand.
Three players are away with the national team, as well as Trika, who is with Romania’s U-21 squad. We’ll have them back with us midweek. This is an unprecedented situation. For us, the next game is still a long way off.
We want to pick up where we left off before the break. We’ll have to adapt. We see that teams abroad are also complaining about similar situations.
Cabrera is still quite a ways off, so we can’t say the countdown to his return has begun yet.
Amin’s injury is a serious one. Because there is a risk of recurrence and the problem is located in the sole of his foot, he will be reevaluated on an ongoing basis, and we’ll wait to see how it progresses.
Tsakon’s discomfort is related to a screw that was surgically inserted. He will not be with us for the game against Omonia Aradippou.”
