A fire broke out on Sunday evening in an abandoned ground-floor store in Larnaca, where there was a pile of junk and old equipment.
According to Fire Department Spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the Fire Department responded at 9:09 p.m. with two fully staffed fire trucks.
Breathing apparatus and water hoses were used to extinguish the fire.

The store was part of a complex of five adjacent stores, with the Fire Department conducting a search of the remaining premises to determine whether anyone was trapped.
Fortunately, no one was found.
The cause of the fire is being investigated in cooperation with the Police.
Over the past 24 hours, the Fire Department responded to 38 incidents, including 14 fires, 20 special services, and 4 false alarms. In addition, we are posting our weekly activity report, broken down by numbers, both overall and by incident category.
At 1:20 p.m., we responded to a fire in a prefabricated structure located on the roof of a house in the Amargeti Community in Paphos. The structure served as living quarters for foreign workers, who were absent at the time the fire broke out. The structure and its contents sustained extensive damage from the fire and heat. Water hoses and breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire.
Response: 3 fully staffed fire trucks.
Cause: A cooking pot left unattended on a gas stove.
At 6:57 p.m., a response was dispatched for a traffic collision in Lakatamia, Nicosia. A private vehicle collided with the wall of a church in Anthoupoli. Hydraulic rescue tools were used, and one injured person was extricated from the vehicle in cooperation with the Ambulance Service and handed over to the ambulance for transport to the Emergency Department.
Response: Rescue team and vehicle.

Due to rainfall and weather conditions, we have responded to 14 incidents across Cyprus since yesterday and up to this time.
