After a delay of about an hour and a half, plenty of rain, two safety car periods, and numerous problems, Max Verstappen held on to the lead and celebrated his first Formula 1 victory of the year in Malaysia.
The Dutch driver managed to bounce back despite a disastrous start and put on a show of strength at Sepang. Kimi Antonelli finished in second place, capitalizing on his rivals’ problems and, with a bit of… luck, crossing the finish line behind Max.
Rounding out the podium was the “evergreen” Lewis Hamilton. The Briton didn’t get off to a good start at all and initially dropped to 17th place. However, he recovered and managed to overtake, among others, Isaac Hanzar in the final laps, moving up to third place.
Charles Leclerc finished fourth in the race in Malaysia, while the French Red Bull driver came in fifth. Oscar Piastri fought for a better result but ultimately remained in sixth place. Seventh place went to Liam Lawson, and eighth to the formidable Fernando Alonso. Lando Norris faced numerous problems and finished ninth, while Arvid Lindblad rounded out the top ten.
Valtteri Bottas and Alex Albon retired from the race, as did George Russell, who experienced a mechanical problem with his car on lap 50, extending the safety car period.
