Portugal came from behind to beat Norway 2-1 and secured a spot in the Nations League quarterfinals!
Although they fell behind after a spectacular goal by Ager in the 36th minute, Jesus’s team responded immediately and equalized with a goal of equally rare beauty by Cancelo, before completing the comeback with a goal by Gonçalo Ramos in the 79th minute. In the remaining minutes and right up until the final whistle, the Norwegians pressed hard, playing with an extra man from the 86th minute onward after Conceição was sent off, but they failed to equalize and remained stuck in last place in the group. Denmark has the edge in the race for the coveted second-place spot, having defeated Wales 1-0 in Cardiff thanks to a penalty converted by Hoylund, in the 75th minute of the match.
In Group 2, Ireland and Israel faced off at the neutral venue of Bačka Topola, Serbia, and played to a 1-1 draw, a result that didn’t suit either team, as it dampens their hopes for promotion. Parrot opened the scoring in the 39th minute on a penalty kick, while Peretz equalized early in the second half (47th minute).
In the same group, Austria found itself trailing in its away match against Kosovo after a goal by Aslani in the 70th minute, but they found the equalizer in the 85th minute courtesy of Lang, remaining undefeated and at the top of the group.
Finally, in Group 4, Azerbaijan defeated Lithuania 1-0, and Malta beat Andorra by the same score, remaining undefeated for its fifth consecutive game—its best streak since 2020!
