At least two young people were killed and dozens of people were injured, some of whom are in critical condition, after gunfire broke out during a celebration in the state of Georgia (south), local and state authorities announced early Sunday.
Duluth County Sheriff Craig Peevey said during an emergency press conference that two men, aged 21 and 23, were killed in Vienna, about 216 kilometers south of Atlanta. Another 35 people were injured, officials told the press. Their ages range from 14 to 51, they added. Some have gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, hundreds of people were attending the back-to-school celebration for high school students in Dooly County.
