The defendant was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Shahruar Ahmed Emon, a 22-year-old student from Bangladesh.
According to reports, the defendant admitted to the charges against him, including premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, abduction or kidnapping and unlawful deprivation of liberty with the intent to cause serious bodily harm, extortion, and demanding property under threat.
According to the evidence presented to the Court, the defendant met the victim on June 7 while riding a bus, and the two young men exchanged contact information. The defendant stated that from that encounter, he concluded that the 22-year-old came from a wealthy family.
Two days later, on June 9, the defendant purchased a knife. On June 11, he contacted the student and told him that he had found a job for him paying 50 euros a day.
