AEK’s press officer, Kyriakos Dimitriou, expressed optimism about winning this year’s Cyprus League by Stoiximan in comments he made to Supersport 104.
He highlighted the Larnaca-based team’s strong start, which has generated excitement among the fans, but also emphasized the need for their continued support even during difficult moments that may lie ahead.
At the same time, he discussed the team’s current situation, providing an update on the status of Tsakon, Amin, and Olivan, and also mentioned Monday’s match against Omonia Aradippou (October 12, 7:00 p.m.) to mark the resumption of the league.
Here’s what he said in detail:
On the fans’ belief in winning the title this year: “The way we’ve started has sparked this optimism among the fans, the key is for the fans to show their support by turning out even when the going gets tough and when we hit a potential slump and the team might drop a few points, since no team can maintain the same momentum throughout the entire season.”
On team news: “Amin is out of the lineup since he hasn’t regained his rhythm yet; Tsakon underwent a minor procedure—which we’ve already reported on—to have a screw removed, so he won’t be available for the match against Omonia Aradippou; and Brian Olivan, who was injured in Apollon, and we’re awaiting the results of his tests. It’s unlikely he’ll be available. “We’re certainly also looking forward to the return of our national team players,” he commented, while of course congratulating our national team players and Edwards.
Regarding the match against Omonia Aradippou: “We’ll-much the same as before the break, when we faced Omonia on May 29—they proved to be a very tough opponent and were on a very good run—and now we’ll face Omonia Aradippou, , which shouldn’t be underestimated given their results so far, and we’ll do everything we can to win.”
