To mark October 12—World Day for Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases— the Cyprus Rheumatism Association (SYREK) invites the public to participate in the annual symbolic walk “Walking with People with Rheumatic Diseases,” on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., in the Palm Trees of Larnaca, starting from Europe Square.
Through this walk, SYREK invites everyone to walk alongside people with rheumatic diseases, sending a strong message of support, solidarity, acceptance, and understanding of their daily lives.

World Rheumatism Day, observed annually on October 12, is an important opportunity to educate and raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with rheumatic diseases, as well as to highlight the need for a better quality of life, equal participation, and meaningful support.
“Wear me. Always with pride.”
Alongside the march, from October 12 to 18, SYREK’s campaign “Wear Me. Always with pride,” which this year has a new “vehicle”: the Association’s bucket hat.
With the new creative theme “I wear it for…,” SYREK invites everyone to share their own reason for participating and showing support:
I wear it for myself.
I wear it for someone close to me.
I wear it for those who carry on.
I wear it to make our support visible.
The public and companies can support the Association’s work by purchasing the bucket hat for €10, wearing it, taking a photo, and sharing it on social media “who they’re wearing it for,” tagging SyREK.
The bucket hat thus becomes a visible symbol of support, culminating in the march on October 17, when we’ll all wear it together and walk alongside people with rheumatic diseases.
The President of the Cyprus Rheumatism Association, Ms. Andri Foka, states:
“The ‘Walking with People with Rheumatic Diseases’ march is, for us, a powerful message of solidarity and unity. Every step we take together shows people with rheumatic diseases that they are not alone. This year, through the ‘I’m Wearing It For…’ campaign, we’re calling on everyone to share their own reason for supporting us. To wear the bucket hat with pride and, on October 17, join us on our walk. Because when we wear our support and walk together, the message becomes even stronger.”
